VW drives Soccer Fever by giving fans a chance to be featured in national TV spot
June 4th, 2010 by Torr
Volkswagen of America is calling on soccer “fanáticos” to express their passion for the game for a chance to win an appearance in a national TV spot.
Volkswagen, together with soccer legends Ramón Morales and Ramón Ramírez, are encouraging soccer fans to create and upload their own “fanistitial” videos documenting their passion for soccer. Fans can upload videos to the Volkswagen Facebook fan page at www.facebook.com/vw, where a lucky winner will be featured in a national TV spot set to air during Univision’s broadcast of the 2010 FIFA World Cup!
Volkswagen and the soccer teams of the world both have great traditions of excellence. In 1974 when West Germany beat the Netherlands 2-1, VW was introducing the Rabbit to US audiences. When France beat Brazil 3-0 in 1998 the New Beetle was winning hearts all over the world. In 2002 Asia hosted its first-ever championship (Brazil beat Germany 2-0) and VW showed the world the Touareg TDI. And just 4 years ago when the world last gathered for the greatest tournament in sports with Italy beating France 5-2 in a penalty shootout, VW was unveiling a new concept vehicle called the Tiguan. Now here we are in 2010 and you can be sure that VW has plenty more surprises up its sleeve.
